Imaginarium is the new edition of SAM’s much-loved annual contemporary art exhibition for children, begun in 2010 and now in its fifth year. In the spirit of SG50, this year's exhibition is inspired by the crescent moon on the Singapore flag, a symbol of a young nation on the rise with the capacity to dream big and think large. Featuring artists from Singapore and the region, Imaginarium beckons the adventurers, the dreamers, and the explorers of today to embark on a journey of discovery, and together, sail towards exciting new horizons…
- Imaginarium is compressed by 8 new commission artwork. Therefore, unlike other exhibition, it does not have a clear visual reference for the identity.
- The exhibition targets not only to children but also the young at heart adult. The challenge is creating an exhibition identity which immerse to every age group. At the same time, it speaks up the celebrative spirit of Singapore 50th birthday, as well as, expresses the imaginative and wander mind.
- The crescent moon and 5 stars from national flag transform into a adventure. The boat is rising from the big ocean, leaving space for the imaginative mind to continue its adventurous journey.
- By working closely with curatorial team and artist, the final colour scheme is a reflection of dream and aspiration from those at the heart of Singapore Art Museum.
